‘Field of Dreams’: Picking your all-time baseball team

For baseball fans everywhere and especially fans of the San Diego Padres, we recently had the pleasure of dreaming up, what our version of ‘Field of Dreams’ would look like.

Would it resemble the movie for some of us, like myself for example, who would love to have one last catch with his dad?

Even at the ripe old age of 46, if that’s what heaven is made up of, those kinds of dreams coming true, then I’m all for it.

Or could it look like when I was younger, actually playing and learning the game and seeing yourself improve from year to year but especially over a four period from 14-17, where if not for blowing a shoulder out right after my 18th birthday would have played further on for sure.

My contributions to the field now reside in my writing about it. In having a platform like this to be able to talk about the one thing in this championship-starved city we all have bonded together over, the San Diego Padres.

My baseball diamond has now become a keyboard and mouse. However, it is a platform nonetheless.

In trying to come up with a fun idea and also stories to hear from fans for an opening article I thought the whole ‘Field of Dreams’ theme was a wonderful idea. Best thing you can do is get people all up in their feels for a debut article.

Now it is up to you, the fans, to make this an interactive and fun article. In the comments below section, please these two things:

  1. Who would be the one person you would want to have your catch with?
  2. Your all-time team of current or former major leaguers, including a starting nine, including a designated hitter, plus one starting pitcher and one closer

Yes I’m a fan too, so I will leadoff.

This is my ‘Field of Dreams’ team:

So it is my hope with this article that you the fans, explore what your ‘Field of Dreams’ would look like and who would be the one person you’d absolutely have as the person you have the catch with?

And please share your starting lineup if you could pick from any major league players past or present to play on that field with.
