Bob Melvin accepts Giants job

The Padres will need to find a new manager once again

Bob Melvin is no longer the San Diego Padres manager. He has accepted the San Francisco Giants manager job, according to Kevin Acee.

We knew this was going to happen once he was allowed to interview with San Francisco so there isn’t much to add. This whole thing is just frustrating because the Padres had one of the best managers in baseball and AJ Preller couldn’t make it work.

He made two wrong hires and then finally makes the right one and that guy leaves for another team inside San Diego’s division.

Melvin finished with a 171-153 record as the Padres skipper, making it to the NLCS in year one before missing the postseason in year two.

Now without Melvin, the Padres must find a new manager, which will be their fourth in five seasons. Ryan Flaherty and Mike Shildt are the favorites to be the next manager. Who do you want?
