Maton was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 20th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. After just two seasons in the minors, Maton was called up to make his MLB debut in 2017. He bounced back and forth between the big league club and AAA-El Paso for two years before being traded to the Cleveland Indians in 2019. After two seasons in Cleveland, Maton was dealt to the Houston Astros, where he was a pivotal part of the team’s 2021 World Series run.
