Winfield began his 22-year Hall of Fame career in San Diego, making his debut with the Padres in 1973. In 1977, he became an All-Star for the first time and became a household name in the late 70s and early 80s. Following the 1980 season, the New York Yankees signed Winfield to the richest contract in baseball history at the time for 10 years and $23 million. After playing for the Yankees, he played for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992, winning his only World Series title. Winfield also played for the California Angels (1990-91), Minnesota Twins (1993-94) and Cleveland Indians (1995) before being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
