Second-year right-hander Mat Latos allows one run on four hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts over seven innings to set a Major League record against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This game marked Latos’ 15th straight start in which he allowed less than two runs while going five innings or more. The Padres defeat the Dodgers 2–1 at Petco Park. Latos would go on to win 14 games in 2010, which tied his career-high. He also would end the season with his lowest career ERA at 2.92.
