Center fielder Steve Finley hits a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6–5 at Jack Murphy Stadium. Finley would go on to become an All-Star for the first time the following season in 1997. The walk-off homer was one of 82 he hit with the Padres from 1995-98.
