We have a pair of new additions to the Gaslamp Ball staff, with Ben Fadden and Felipe Bruce now on board to write about the Padres.
Ben you probably recognize from his prolific Fan Posts on the site this season, or perhaps his Talking Friars podcast.
“I’ve grown up a Padres fan and my family has season tickets for the Padres. I’m currently attending St. John’s University to study Sports Management,” Ben said. “I have a podcast called ‘Talking Friars’ that has featured interviews with people around the Padres organization, including Padres radio voice Jesse Agler, Padres associate manager Skip Schumaker, and MLB Network/ESPN’s Matt Vasgersian!”
Felipe lives in Brazil, and tweets about the Padres at @StatsPadres., and about the San Diego Loyal soccer team at @SDLoyalBR.
“I am all in about San Diego and all about sports in general. The love for the city started even before I knew that baseball would became one of the main sports of my life — tied with soccer, sure, because I’m from Brazil,” Felipe said. “I’m an odd guy, that in 1995 started to watch NBA and had Orlando Magic as my first American sports team. Then after an exchange program to Portland, I ended up in San Diego and started this journey in 2010.
“Since then, from bad times to now, I survived the Padres eternal rebuild and here I am. Nowadays, I play baseball here in Porto Alegre, Brazil. I’m a part of a team with Venezuelans, Cubans and one American. I also have a podcast about the Padres in Portuguese, “Padres Cast” Clever, huh?”
Please give Ben and Felipe a warm welcome to Gaslamp Ball.
