After taking Sunday off, the Padres now face a three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.

Chris Paddack is set to come off the IL today and make his first start since July 27, which is huge for the team. The team should have its three best starters pitching in this series, with Paddack going Monday, Snell pitching Tuesday, and Darvish bringing it home in Wednesday’s matinee.

If the pitching can handle the load, the bats can feel a little more at ease, and lately, the team has needed a lot more production from the hitting than what’s been given.

The team has only scored more than five runs in a game six times this month out of a possible 24 games. And the last time the team scored more than five runs came against the Diamondbacks when the team was last in Arizona over two weeks ago.

Maybe that’s a good omen going into tonight, but as the page flips to September, the games are only growing in importance, and that starts with the series in front of them this week.
