Snell solid in Padres’ 3-2 victory over Marlins

Snell looked pretty good, yeah?

MLB: San Diego Padres at Miami Marlins Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Blake Snell looked like his early-season self in a refreshing performance on Thursday evening where he struck out eight and allowed just one run through six full innings. His pitching helped the Padres maintain the early 3-0 lead they built through the first five innings as they went on to survive over Seattle by a score of 3-2.

Jurickson Profar drove in two of the Padres’ three runs with the first coming in the second and the other coming two innings later in the fourth. He finished with a team-high two hits, as well. Manny Machado drove in the team’s final run of the night in the fifth on a sac fly to score Fernando Tatis Jr.

The Marlins used an eight-man bullpen effort in which six different pitchers recorded at least one strikeout.

Game two is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. this evening. Joe Musgrove (5-7, 3.14 ERA) will be on the mound opposite Seattle’s Zach Thompson (1.93 ERA).
