Padres drop Game 1 in Atlanta 2-1

Quite the drop in offensive production.

MLB: San Diego Padres at Atlanta Braves Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta’s Freddie Freeman hit a go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the sixth and that was all the Braves needed to put them over the top in a close 2-1 decision Tuesday afternoon inside Truist Park.

Yu Darvish was pulled in the fifth after allowing the go-ahead run. He worked 5 23 innings and finished with just three strikeouts, two walks, and a pair of runs allowed. Tommy Pham drove in the team’s only run of the evening in the top of the fourth off a sac fly.

On the other side, the Braves’ Touki Toussaint struck out a game-high five batters while allowing three hits and two walks.

Wil Myers led the Padres with a pair of hits with Victor Caratini and Fernando Tatis Jr. each recording one, as well.

Today’s double-header begins early at 9:20 a.m. with the second game of the day beginning around 2:20 p.m.
