Earlier today, Jake Cronenworth and Vlad Guerrero Jr. were named the MLB Players of the Week after putting together a pair notable performances over the past seven days.
This is Cronenworth’s first player of the week honor it’s rightfully deserved after the second-year Padre played a major role in sweeping the Dodgers early last week for the first time in over eight years. He homered in all three games and went yard in four-straight to begin the week.
He finished the week slashing .391/.481/1.000 and led the majors in that span with a 1.481 OPS to go along with nine RBIs.
Cron now joins Fernando Tatis Jr., Joe Musgrove, and Eric Hosmer as the only four Padres players to earn a NL Player of the Week honor this season.
It’s a shame that the 27-year old failed to make the final round of All-Star voting but hopefully this is the last year for some time we don’t get to see the Cron Zone set up shop next to an all-star game.
