The Padres barreling train of momentum continued on Tuesday night as they managed to edge the Dodgers by a score of 3-2 which earned the Friars the series victory and their six-straight win overall since being swept by the Rockies earlier this month.
San Diego took it to Clayton Kershaw who finished with seven strikeouts but allowed all three of the Padres’ runs with two walks. Blake Snell did hit best to limit any damage while he was on the mound as he ended the day with five K’s and three walks through five scoreless innings. Mark Melancon recorded his league-leading 22nd save of the season.
The Padres established their 3-0 lead by the end of the fifth inning after Ha-Seong Kim went yard on a solo shot to left field. Jake Cronenworth kicked off the scoring in the first with a two-run shot over the right field fence.
The Dodgers attempted to rally back in the eighth which started with Will Smith grounding into a double-play that managed to score Chris Taylor. They scored their second and final run off an Austin Barnes solo home run in the top of the ninth.
The series finale is once against at 7:00 p.m. this evening. Trevor Bauer (7-5, 2.45 ERA) and Joe Musgrove (4-6, 2.28 ERA) will be your starters on the night.
