The Giants (20-13) homered twice against Joe Musgrove, including a three-run shot by shortstop Brandon Crawford in the second inning as part of a three-home run outing to overwhelm an uninspired Padres (18-16) team for a 7-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Oracle Park.

In five innings of work, Musgrove struck out seven with zero walks, eight hits allowed and four earned runs. The second home run against him came via a solo shot from first baseman Brandon Belt. He recorded his fourth loss of the season, as well. Tim Hill and Nabil Crismatt each handled one of the final two innings and both allowed one more run apiece with Crismatt recording the only other strikeout for the Padres.
Both Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jake Cronenworth finished two-for-four at the plate with Cronenworth scoring the team’s only run off a ground out by Austin Nola.
Giants starter Kevin Gausman (3-0) K’d seven in six innings with the lone run allowed and one walk. Both left fielder Austin Slater and Crawford finished led their team with three RBIs.
The final game of the series starts later this afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
