Represent April’s leader in saves with this Mark ‘The Shark” melancon shirt!

This man is on fire!

The Padres did all they could to reinforce their bullpen following the 2020 season. They traded for bonafide studs in Yu Darvish, Blake Snell, and Joe Musgrove, but one of the most-impactful moves thus far in 2021 may have been the signing of 36-year old closer Mark Melancon as a free agent.

As of last night’s win, Melancon now has 11 saves through 14 games this year. That’s two-more than the next-closest player in Texas’ Ian Kennedy and St Louis’ Alex Reyes, both of whom have nine. In the month of April, Melancon earned the NL’s Reliever of the Month honor after converting on all nine of his save chances. He finished with a 0.69 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 13 total innings with four hits and and one walk allowed, holding hitters to a .095 average and a .116 on-base percentage.

Be sure to snag your “The Shark” shirts here before they’re gone!
