With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth, Jake Cronenworth laced a two-RBI single into right field to bring home both Victory Caratini and Trent Grisham for the game-winning runs and the bullpen allowed just one hit through the game’s final three innings to the Padres (18-14) earn the series win with a 4-2 victory on Wednesday evening over the Pirates (13-17).

Yu Darvish pitched well into the sixth inning and was eventually pulled after allowing the Pirates to record a pair of game-tying runs. He still finished the night with eight strikeouts and six hits allowed with a lone walk. Craig Stammen earned the win for the night after getting the inning’s final batter to ground out to third. Emilio Pagan also struck out two in the eighth. Mark Melancon recorded his 11th save of the season.
Wil Myers (one-for-three) and Victor Caratini (one-for-four) recorded the Padres’ other two RBIs against Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh starter JT Brubaker fanned seven batters through five innings with three walks and two runs allowed.
