Padres Game Thread 5/28/21: Padres @ Astros

El Flaco will get his first start since May 11.

Fans would have preferred the Padres (32-19) to win their fourth-straight series, but a split with a team that swept them earlier in the season isn’t a bad consolation prize. The team is now in Houston to take on the Astros (27-22) in a three-game road trip.

Team News

The Padres are placing Austin Nola on the IL with a left knee sprain and transferring Dan Altavilla to the 60-day IL. In several corresponding moves, the team is promoting catcher Webster Rivas, who is slated to start tonight, while also recalling LHP Nick Ramirez and optioning Brian O’Grady back to El Paso.

Dinelson Lamet (1-0, 1.64 ERA) is also back on the mound tonight.

Starting Lineup

Manny Machado will DH tonight in his first game back from rehabbing some shoulder tightness. With Trent Grisham still on the mend, Jurickson Profar will start in center field and bat seventh.

Enjoy the game! Go Padres!
