Padres Game Thread 5/15/21: Cardinals @ Padres

Time to beat down a great opponent.

MLB: St. Louis Cardinals at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres are looking to secure the series win tonight over the Cardinals ahead of another series against the Rockies. This time, it will be at home. However, the Padres currently the only team in the NL West that doesn’t own a winning record at home this year. After their win last night, they hold a 10-10 mark inside Petco Park. Being able to capitalize on a three-game home series against the worst team in the division could go a long way in terms of momentum for the Friars.

Chris Paddack (1-3, 4.78 ERA) will start tonight against Adam Wainwright (2-3, 3.80 ERA).

Starting Lineup

Today’s lineup looks similar to last night’s but with one notable changeup. Austin Nola, normally one of the team’s catchers, will start at first base in place of Eric Hosmer and bat fifth. The group of Trent Grisham, Manny Machado, and Jake Cronenworth will begin the day while Tommy Pham bats cleanup. Bryan O’Grady will start in right field once more, as well.

Enjoy the game! Go Padres!
