Padres Game Thread 4/3/21: Diamondbacks @ Padres

For the third game in a row, we have a Padres debut.

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

After two wins involving the debuts of two new pitchers for the Padres, a third one will be making his first start as a Friar in what is also can be considered as a coming home party Joe Musgrove who played collegiately at nearby San Diego State University. He’ll be facing 29-year old lefty, Caleb Smith.

Eric Hosmer has recorded a home run in each of the first two games of the season. He’s currently hitting .857 and we totally expect that number to stay exactly where it is, right? Well, it’ll stay put for a day as he is getting the night off.

Manny Machado is still looking for his first hit of the season and Fernando Tatis Jr. would probably like to get the year started on a better note than his current mark of one-for-eight through two games.

Starting Lineup

Like I said above, Hosmer is getting the night off along with Jurickson Profar. Jorge Mateo will take over left field tonight, Jake Cronenworth is moving over to second, and Ha-Seong Kim will get his first MLB start at second base. Caratini is also back behind the plate for San Diego.

Enjoy the game! Let’s Go Padres!
