Corbin Burnes has been performing like no other pitcher in MLB history has in recent memory. With 10 strikeouts on Tuesday night, Burnes increased his season total to 40, all while allowing zero walks in 2021. Entering the night, he was already the only pitcher since 1900 to fan 30 batters without giving anyone a free base through his first three games.
The Friars managed just six hits on the night, but couldn’t churn out any runs as they fell 6-0 to the Brewers in Petco Park.

The Brewers offense recorded a pair of home runs by Billy McKinney and Jace Peterson. Both solo deep shots, McKinney went yard in the third for the game’s first points while Peterson’s 419-footer capped off the game’s scoring in the ninth.
Chris Paddack set a new season-high with seven strikeouts in five innings on 78 total pitches. He also allowed five of the Brewers’ six runs scored. The Friars’ trio of relievers all struck out two while Craig Stammen allowed the game’s final run.

The Brewers secured the series win with their victory last night but tonight’s game is still going to be something Padres fans won’t want to miss. Dinelson Lamet is expected to make his season debut after battling back from a UCL strain in his right elbow.
