Padres Game Thread 4/16/21: Dodgers @ Padres

LET’S DO THE DANG THING!

MLB: San Diego Padres at Chicago White Sox Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

TGIF, Padres fans, and welcome to game one of a three-game home series against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles currently sits atop the majors with a league-best 11-2 record and a +34 run differential. They’re currently undefeated at home, so it’s nice to have them visiting in this series.

Ryan Weathers is making the first regular-season start of his career and he couldn’t have asked more pressure if he tried. He’s facing 26-year old Walker Buehler who currently sits with a 1-0 mark and a 1.50 ERA through a pair of starts.

I know you’re all stoked for this game as it’s rightfully going to be played under the lights. Big-time payers make big-time plays, so this is an excellent opportunity for the Padres to show that last year wasn’t a one-hit wonder-type ordeal.

Team News

Good news! Fernando Tatis Jr. is being activated from the 10-day IL which will send Tucupita Marcano to the alternate training site.

Starting Lineup

The top of the lineup is back to full strength with the return of Tatis. Your top-four now starts with Trent Grisham, Tatis, Jake Cronenworth, and Manny Machado batting cleanup. Wil Myers is back in right field and batting sixth while Luis Campusano starts once again behind the plate.

Enjoy the game! Go Padres!
