Coming off a series sweep of the Rangers in Texas, the Padres are staying on the road for a four-game trip to Pittsburgh. The Pirates are coming off a series victory over the Cubs which they sealed with a 7-1 win over Chicago on Sunday.
Yu Darvish will begin today’s game with his third start of the season. Through his previous two outings, Darvish has recorded 13 strikeouts while recording a 4.22 ERA in 10 2⁄3 innings pitched. He’ll be facing 33-year old right-hander Trevor Cahill who is coming into today’s game with four strikeouts through four innings of work thus far.
Through the Padres first 10 games of the season, Eric Hosmer is your leader in home runs, batting average, and RBIs at three, .353, and eight, respectively.
