The Padres begin their quest back to the playoffs today as they open up with a four-game home series against divisional opponent Arizona.
During last year’s abbreviated 2020 season, the Diamondbacks finished in last place in the NL West with a record of 25-35. The Friars finished behind the Dodgers for second place in the division with a 37-23 record, which was also good for the third-best mark in the majors.
Today’s game also marks the first start for Yu Darvish in a Padres uniform. Last year, Darvish won eight of his 12 starts and finished as the runner-up for the NL Cy Young Award after recording 93 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.03.
Here’s to another phenomenal year of Padres baseball. Cheers, everyone.
