Blake Snell looked very much like Blake Snell on Saturday afternoon as the first-year Padre struck out six batters and five scoreless innings. Craig Stammen and Keone Kela combined to record four more K’s on the day in the games final two innings, completing the shutout against Los Angeles.

Apart from the stellar pitching, not a ton happened in this one as the majority of the starters got a day of rest. The game’s only two runs were scored by Jorge Mateo on a well-hit deep shot to left field off of Junior Guerra.
The Padres evened up their spring training record at 12-12 with today’s victory. The spring’s final two exhibitions will take place tomorrow against Cleveland and Monday against the Rockies. Opening Day is right around the corner, starting next Thursday on April 1 with a four-game home series against the D-Backs.
Tomorrow’s contest against the Indians and the opening pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
