Just like that, Fernando Tatis Jr. went from leaving Tuesday’s game early with an apparent shoulder injury, to lobbying to return for Wednesday’s exhibition, to hitting a three run homer en route to helping take down the Texans in an exciting 11-10 shootout on Thursday night.
But what else did you expect from The Phenom?
Yu Darvish started on the mound for the Padres on the same day the team announced that he would be their Opening Day starter early next month. He would go on to strikeout four batters through three innings while also allowing just as many runs and walks. Craig Stammen was second with three K’s in his lone inning pitched.
Luis Campusano enjoyed an efficient day at the plate, finishing two-for-two with a pair of RBIs. Tatis led the team with his three runs batted in off his deep shot.
The Texans were led offensively by right fielder Adois Garcia and Jose Trevino, both of whom went three-for-four on the day, recording one (solo home run) and two RBIs, respectively.
Another night game awaits the Padres who host the Mariners this evening at 6:40 p.m.
