Pham homers twice in another spring draw with Royals

Ties are just so unsatisfying.

Monday’s game was an offensive tennis match as the Padres and Royals traded runs from the first inning to the last. Tommy Pham did his best to create some distance from Kansas City with a pair of homers but the Royals were able to stick around with a pair of deep shots by Hunter Doizier and Nick Pratto. After all the fireworks died down, the two teams left the stadium with a 9-9 draw, notching their second in the past three games.

Joe Musgrove started on the mound and finished with a mixed bag of a performance. In four innings of work, he struck out five batters but allowed just as many runs and eight total hits. Emilio Pagan and Nick Ramirez also each K’d a single batter.

Joining Pham in San Diego’s offensive show was both John Andreoli and Tucupita Marcano, both of whom recorded a pair of RBIs.

Mike Minor started for the Royals and struck out two with three runs allowed. They were led offensively by Dozier’s three RBIs and Emmanuel’s Rivera’s two.

The Padres host the Reds tomorrow afternoon at 1:10 p.m.
