The iconic professional sports cards creator Topps is set to release their newest line of MLB cards in a week’s time with 2021 Topps Series 1 Baseball. The company is holding a “rip party” on February 9 at 6 pm ET on their website if you feel like joining in on the fun.

But why should Padres fans care about this news? Well, it’s because superstar shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is being featured within the set as the very first card in the entire line.

“It’s amazing,” Tatis told the media following the announcement over the weekend. “It’s a great feeling. You know, I’m part of a pretty special group up there and just the fact that I’m up there with them is just a special moment.”

Other Padres players included in the set are (with accompanying set number):

  • Manny Machado - 192
  • Luis Patino rookie card - 205
  • Trent Grisham - 249
  • Chris Paddack - 259
  • Blake Snell - 261
  • Mike Clevinger 265
  • Jurickson Profar - 266
  • Kirby Yates - 267
  • “Slam Diego!” - 323
