Richard spent two separate stints with the Friars, from 2009-2013 and again from 2016-18. During his eight seasons in San Diego, Richard went 58-68 with a 4.37 ERA. In his best season in 2012, Richard won a career-high 14 games. He retired following the 2019 season after one year with the Toronto Blue Jays.
