Strom played for the Padres from 1975-77 as a starting pitcher. In 1975, Strom ranked second on the team in ERA with 2.54. In 1976, Strom led the team in strikeouts with 103. While his career with the Padres wasn’t extremely successful, he has served as the pitching coach of the Houston Astros since 2014. In his tenure, Strom has helped the Astros to three World Series appearances and a World Series championship in 2017.
