Here’s to hoping some brooms make an appearance tonight.

MLB: Colorado Rockies at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres (27-17) are going for the season sweep tonight against the Rockies (20-22) tonight at Petco Park. San Diego is staying hot on the heels of the Dodgers, who retain a decent 4.5-game lead on them in first place of the NL West.

Despite that distance, the Padres still lead the majors in runs scored with 253 and own the second-best run differential (+63) behind only the Dodgers (+99).

Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to lead the team in every all the major hitting categories, including batting average, home runs, RBIs, hits, and OBP. Manny Machado, who started fairly slow this season, is right on his heels statistically.

Zach Davies (6-2) is on the mound tonight against righty Adrian Senzatela (3-1).

Starting Lineup

Jake Cronenworth is back in the lineup at second base. Abraham Almonte is the team’s DH for the night while Austin Nola gets a second-straight start behind the plate. Otherwise, the lineup is filled with the normal suspects.
