In somewhat expected, yet still depressing news, the Padres have officially announced their roster for the National League Wild Card Series and both Mike Clevinger and Dinelson Lamet are not included.
Clevinger is still dealing with an upper-body injury that the team hoped would be figured out by the time the playoffs rolled around but that just hasn’t been the case. Lamet, who was expected to be the team’s No. 2 starter, is also dealing with what’s being called a biceps injury.
Lamet finished the 2020 regular season with a 2.09 ERA, good for fifth best in the majors, and 93 strikeouts, good for seventh.
In their places, Chris Paddack is starting today’s game while Zach Davies just recently got the nod for Game 2. Davies finished with the 10th best ERA in MLB at 2.73 along with 63 strikeouts.

Here’s to hoping the bats get as hope [08 as ever in these next two games to make up for the sudden lack of confidence in the bullpen.
