MLB postseason schedule starts on September 29

Major League Baseball announced the schedule for the 2020 Postseason, which is set to begin on September 29 with the AL wild card series, followed by the NL wild card series on September 30. For the first time in history, this will be a “neutral Fall Classic”, according to MLB’s recent press release.

This season, the amount of playoff teams has been increased from 10 to 16. That means there will be a full round of wildcard matchups with eight best-of-three series.

The World Series is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 20 with the potential Game 7 set for October 28.

After the wild card round is played at home stadiums, the advancing teams will then play at neutral within their own personal bubbles. The National League will play its’ division series games at Globe Life Field in Arlington and Minute Maid Park in Houston, with the NLCS and World Series in Arlington. The American League will play the division series at Dodger Stadium and Petco Park, with the ALCS in San Diego.

Dodger Stadium will host the ALDS between the 3/6 and 2/7 winners.

Houston gets the 3/6 vs. 2/7 NLDS, which means if the Padres win their wild card round matchup, they’ll be playing the rest of their playoff games in Arlington.

ESPN will televise seven of the eight wild card round series. TBS will televise one wild card series.

Fox and FS1 will televise the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series, with a few division series games kicked over to MLB Network. TBS has the ALDS and ALCS this year.
