Game Thread: 8/4 Dodgers @ Padres

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Second place in the division is up for grabs tonight as the Padres welcome the Dodgers into Petco Park. Both teams are 7-4 and have some of the hottest bats this year. San Diego leads the major leagues with 64 runs scored while Los Angeles has 58, good for third.

Your starting pitchers tonight are Dinelson Lamet and Dustin May. Lamet is 1-0 with an ERA of 1.80 on the year. He’s pitched through 10 innings and has allowed nine hits, two runs with 15 strikeouts. The 6’6 May has appeared in two games this season, pitching 7.2 innings with ten hits, two runs, and seven Ks.

(Side note: Since I am located in the midwest, I will be posting game recaps the following mornings instead of sometime after midnight on the night of when games are played after 8pm CT. I’m saying this so no one thinks I’m not blatantly forgetting to do one!)

News Update:

One of the top prospects in the MLB is getting promoted by the Padres prior to tonight’s game. Luis Patino will take the place of RHP David Bednar on the roster while Bednar gives shuttled to the team’s alternate training site.

Starting Lineup:

The Friars are going with a similar lineup as Monday evening with the five spots staying locked-in. Almonte gets his first 2020 start in left field for Pham who is tonight’s DH. Garcia replaces Profar at second while Mejia gets another start and rounds out the lineup with Naylor in right field.

Let’s take this dang series! Go Padres!
