Game Thread: 8/30 Padres @ Rockies

Happy Sunday, Padres fans.

Last night was close but they’ve gotta find a way to dig the close ones out. Time to bounce back and take hold of the series.

News Update

The Padres made a second move over the weekend by trading prospects Jeisson Rosario and Hudson Potts to acquire 1B Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox. Coincidentally, Bleacher Report wrote a hypothetical article about re-drafting the 2007 MLB draft and the Padres were given Moreland in the first round. 13 years later, the Padres traded for him anyways.

To make room for newly-acquired reliever Trevor Rosenthal, the Padres optioned RHP Michel Baez to the alternate training site. He pitched a pair of innings to start last night’s contest.

Starting Lineup

Once again the Padres just mixed up the bottom three spots on the rotation. Manny Machado is tonight’s DH while Ty France gets the start at third and bat seventh. Jurickson Profar replaces Josh Naylor in left field while Austin Hedges will be catching for Chris Paddack.
