Some breaking news from ESPN’s Jeff Passan: The Seattle Mariners have made the decision not to play tonight’s contest against the Padres at Petco Park.
The decision comes just hours after all three of today’s NBA playoff games were postponed, stemming from the Milwaukee Bucks’ decision to boycott in response to the recent shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year old unarmed Black man, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Blake was shot as he attempted to enter the driver’s side door of his vehicle with three of his children inside.
The Mariners currently have the most Black players on their roster of any team in MLB.

The Milwaukee Brewers have also decided to postpone today’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, while more teams are also discussing the possibility of not playing, according to Passan.
Josh Hader, the Brewers’ star reliever, told reporters before their team meeting that the Bucks’ decision to boycott was “an enormous stand,” per MLB.com.
“It’s more than sports,” Hader said. “This is a time where we need to really not stay quiet and to empower our voices.”
It was reported on Tuesday that Blake is now paralyzed from the waist down.
