Game Thread: 8/2 Padres @ Rockies

Need to bounce back! Need it!

MLB: San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday’s game was very forgettable. Lucky for us, the Padres haven’t lost back-to-back games this season and this will be there biggest test yet in seeing how this group will be able to rebound from porous outings.

Davies (1-0) is back on the mound for San Diego and he’ll be facing off against RHP Antonio Senzatela who is also 1-0. In his first start of the year, Senzatela pitched five innings and allowed six hits with two runs and three strikeouts. Davies also went for five innings late last month against the Giants and finished with 5 strikeouts alongside five hits allowed and two earned runs.

A win today would push the Padres back into first place of the division while a loss would surely sink them to third with the Giants. Here’s to hoping they choose the former.

Enjoy the game and Go Padres, baby!

Starting Lineup:

Jayce Tingler is reverting back to their usual lineup strategy after a dismal showing last night. Grisham is back in the #2 spot with Machado and Pham following. Machado is getting the start as the team’s DH today with Garcia stepping in at third and at the #5 spot. The bottom of the lineup will be Myers, Profar, Mejia, and Cronenworth. Both Garcia and Cronenworth are the only two players batting over .300 so it’s no surprise Tingler is hoping to spur a bounce-back game with those two in the lineup.
