Game Thread: 8/16 Padres @ Diamondbacks

Alright guys, we can stop this slide anytime now.

MLB: San Diego Padres at Arizona Diamondbacks Arizona Republic-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Content Services, LLC

Last night was close, but the theme of this team can’t be “slow starts with hopes of a late comeback” any longer. The Padres (11-11) are just a half game ahead of the Diamondbacks and are dangerously close to falling into the basement of the NL West.

Guys like Fernando Tatis Jr., Greg Garcia, and Eric Hosmer both showed signs of life last night but the rest of the team still needs to pick it back up. One guy we haven’t seen a ton from in awhile is CF Trent Grisham, who was an integral part of the team’s early success this season. As you’ll see below, Grisham is your leadoff man for the night in an attempt to continue some positive shakeup among the offense.

News Update:

Starting Lineup:

Tommy Pham goes from the #1 spot to #5 as he’ll take over the DH role for the night. It’s Machado and Tatis following Grisham at the top with Hosmer batting cleanup. Hedges is your catcher and rookie Jorge Mateo is rounding out the lineup in left field.
