Fresh off an opening series win, the Padres are headed north to begin a new three-game series against the 2-2 San Francisco Giants.
Your starting pitchers today are righties Zach Davies (SD) and Jeff Samardzija (SF). Davies enters his first start in 2020 after a 2019 season that saw him finish with a 10-7 record in 31 starts. He posted a 3.55 ERA after striking out 102 and allowing 155 H, 73 R, and 20 HRs in 159.2 IP. Samardzija was 11-12 last season in 32 starts with an ERA of 3.52. His stat line is fairly similar to Davies actually, with 152 H, 78 R, and 28 HR allowed on top of 140 strikeouts.

Eric Hosmer is your Padre to watch tonight as he’s coming off his second absence due to a non-Covid 19 related illness. In his two games this season, he’s been efficient, going 4-of-6 at the plate with seven RBIs and a home run. The phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. is your next man up with a .333 BA and three RBIs through four games. He’s consistently getting on base and helping this team get into scoring opportunities.

Today’s lineup is the same as yesterday initial list for spots #1 through #5. 2B Jurickson Profar is back at second after being the team’s DH while Wil Myers returns to the lineup in right field. C Francisco Mejia is once again the team’s starting catcher and OF Josh Naylor gets the nod at DH in the #9 spot.
Let’s make it 4-1 tonight, baby. Go Padres!
