On this date in San Diego Padres history, a pair of brothers in Bret and Aaron Boone both sent one into the stands for the second time in their careers at Cinergy Field. Bret, a second baseman for the Padres, actually went yard twice in this one. The first coming in the opening inning to give them a early 3-0 lead and the second coming five innings later to give the Padres another lead at 8-6. Aaron’s homer came in the bottom of the ninth which helped elevate the Reds over the Padres in a 11-9 contest.

Bret finished with three hits, four RBIs, and scored three runs himself. Aaron, playing third base for the Reds, finished the game with three hits, three RBIs, and ran in two runs, as well.
Reds left fielder Dmitri Young and first baseman Sean Casey also chipped in a pair of RBIs a piece to help push Cincinnati to three games above .500.
