While today is unfortunately just like every other day during this pandemic, it was originally Opening Day for the 2020 MLB season. Fans are still likely going to drink beer, roast from meat, and spend a lot of time on the couch, but everyone’s rituals will obviously be missing the most important ingredient: live baseball.

To make today will a little more normal for Padres fans, the team played God Bless America at 1:10pm PST as “a symbol of solidarity with our resilient country and all of you during this time of crisis”.
Today was supposed to be opening day for the @Padres but they did a God Bless America that was really nice. Perks of living next to Petco Park pic.twitter.com/EMOjTz6j0J

The team also announced that they will be partnering with Phil’s BBQ to provide meals for UCSD Healthcare and San Diego Blood Bank employees and volunteers are are obviously all on the front lines battling this Coronavirus and trying to shorten this pandemic as quickly as possible.
It’s also nice to hear the team is going to continue to find new ways to help out the community. More and more prominent athletes, owners, and coaches are doing their part to help stem the tide of this insane situation and I hope to only see it grow and grow until everyone in a position of power is doing the best they can to aid those who need it most.
A special presentation for the #FriarFaithful from @PetcoPark. See you soon https://t.co/FfNEum4516
