Game Thread: 12 MAR Padres @ Indians CANCELED DUE TO RAIN

Split-squad games should only count as half. Just sayin’.

Well, that didn’t go as planned. The Padres split the squad yesterday, and ended up dropping both games. The Padres lost to the Cubs in Mesa, 3-2, and also dropped the rain-shortened game against the Mariners, 4-2. A silver lining to these clouds: the starters performed well, especially starters Cal Quantrill and Dinelson Lamet. Quantrill and Lamet combined for 7 IP and 7 Ks and only gave up 1 H between them. Quantrill is making a push to be the team’s 5th Starter, as presumed #5 starter Joey Lucchesi has struggled lately.

Today’s Game:

The Padres will travel to Goodyear to take on the Cleveland Indians. RHP Zach Davies will take the hill, with offseason bullpen acquisitions Drew Pomeranz and Emilio Pagán are also slated to throw. Additionally, OF Tommy Pham is tentatively scheduled to make his first start in the outfield. Game info follows below:

Start Time: 1305 Pacific time.

Location: Goodyear Ballpark in Goodyear, AZ.

Radio/TV: No TV; listen in to the game via MLB.com.

Weather Forecast: Cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms (50% chance of rain); winds out of the SSW @ 7 MPH.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to get this one in. I’ll try to post the line-ups if I get a chance.

NEVERMIND. Game’s been canceled due to rain.
