The Padres rode into Goodyear yesterday with a 4 game winning streak as they took on the Reds. Despite the fact that the Reds sent their ace Luis Castillo to the mound, the game was never really in doubt. Abraham Almonte got things going in a hurry, slapping a triple into left center to lead off the game (aided by Reds CF Shogo Akiyama diving for and missing the tailing liner). Almonte scored shortly thereafter as a wild pitch allowed him to dash home, and the Padres never looked back. The Padres followed up with 2 runs scored in the 3rd, courtesy of a oppo bomb from Jason Vosler, and 4 more in the 7th inning, highlighted by an absolute blast from OF Jorge Oña. Check ‘em out below:

Dinelson Lamet also looked good in his spring debut. He threw his requisite 2 innings, giving up only 1 H and 1 BB while K-ing 3. He also threw freely, hitting mid-90s on the gun, and displayed an effective change up. While the bullpen eventually conceded a run in the 6th and then 2 more in the 8th, it did nothing to restore some drama to the game. Our Friars cruised to a 7-3 victory, taking their winning streak to 5 games. Check out the stats below:
