4 in a row, let’s make it 5!

MLB: Spring Training-Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres
OF Trent Grisham hits a home run against the Cubs yesterday.

I don’t know about you all, but it feels pretty good to say that our Padres have won 4 straight against some legit competition. The Padres once again struck late to secure a 5-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs last night. RHP Zach Davies gave up 3 hits and 1 ER to start the game, but OF Trent Grisham, who became the 1st Padres position player to start back-to-back games, tied it up in the good guys’ half of the inning, crushing a solo shot to RF.

The two teams then engaged in something of a pitcher’s duel, until C Luis Torrens hit a sac fly in the 6th to give the Friars the lead. The team padded their lead with a pair of RBI singles in the 7th from OF Eddy Olivares and INF Jake Cronenworth, and Ty France doubled in the 8th to add the last run of the game. I know it’s still early, and it’s only Spring Training, but this definitely beats the alternative. Here’s the boxscore stats:
