Let’s talk about it.

MLB: Wildcard-St. Louis Cardinals at San Diego Padres Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a wild 48 hours for Padres fans. All of a sudden, in the proceeding hours immediately following the holidays, San Diego decided to continue giving gifts as they made a trio of big-time transactions.

The first was the acquisition of Rays pitcher Blake Snell, a former Cy Young Award Winner, in which they traded top-pitching prospect Luis Patino along with a package of several non-top 10 prospects.

Secondly, they signed KBO star shortstop Ha-Seong Kim. Over a seven-season career, the 25-year old hit .294/.373/.493 with 133 home runs and 134 stolen bases. The Padres were not expected to outbid everyone for Kim’s services, so it speaks to all the good this team has to offer free agent going forward.

Lastly, San Diego got a deal done for Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish and catcher Victor Caratini. Darvish was a top-five pitcher in the majors in 2020 and Caratini is a promising young talent at his position. In return, they had to ship off pitcher Zach Davies and a handful of young prospects.

Looking around on social media, it seems like a lot of the fan base has been unable to sleep. This news has been so spectacular that people haven’t been able to calm down for days. With that in mind, I thought it’d be a good idea to give you guy a fresh slate to discuss the recent moves and anything else that is on your mind at the moment.

Happy Hump Day, y’all!
