Early Friday morning, ESPN announced their Sunday Night Baseball broadcasting schedule that will open up on April 4 with a matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox.
But the bigger news in all of this is that the Padres received TWO games scheduled on Sunday Night Baseball. This marks the first time that San Diego will appear on the broadcast since the 2007 season.
Their first game on Sunday night will come against their divisional foe, the Dodgers, on April 25 and it will be played in L.A. Their second contest will be on May 16 and it’ll be a home game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Padres played both these teams in the 2020 postseason, beating the Cardinals two games to one in the wild card round before losing the Dodgers in the NLDS.
ESPN plans to broadcast 11 games through the first six days of the 2021 season. On April 1, they will televise Opening Night which will be the Washington Nationals playing host to the New York Mets.
