Left fielder Tommy Pham is feeling following emergency surgery to his lower back, where he was stabbed on Sunday night in downtown San Diego, per the San Diego Tribune.
According to The Tribune, Pham was leaving an establishment last night and accidentally got caught in a sticky situation. As he was leaving, he noticed their was an altercation between a pair of people near his car. As he tried to deal with the conflict, it escalated past control and Pham ending up getting stabbed before it was all said and done. He did not know either of the people involved.
In very positive news, no organs were damaged and he received stitches for the wound.
“We are aware of the incident last night involving Tommy Pham,” the Padres said in a statement. “He was treated at UC San Diego Health and is currently in good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the incident and we will have no further comment at this time.”
