We want to wish a Happy Birthday to Fernando Tatis Jr. who turns 21 years old today. Most fans see Tatis Jr. as the future of the Padres.

Tatis Jr. is the son of former Major League third basemen Fernando Tatis Sr. His father spent 11 seasons in the Major Leagues. Tatis Sr. hit .265 with 113 home runs and 448 RBIs over his career. He is well known for hitting two grand slams in one inning and is the only player to have ever done that.

In 2015, Tatis Jr. was signed by the Chicago White Sox as an international free agent from the Dominican Prospect League. He was traded to the Padres before playing a professional game. In the Minor Leagues, Tatis Jr. made a name for himself. He hit .280 with 42 home runs, 64 stolen bases, and 143 RBIs. Following the 2019 Spring Training, Tatis Jr. made the opening day roster.

In his rookie season, Tatis Jr. hit .317 with 22 home runs and 16 stolen bases in just 84 games. He was a finalist for rookie of the year. He finished in third place behind Pete Alonso and Mike Soroka.
