Wil Myers is having fun again. Gosh, that’s a great thing for the Padres.
Over the years, Myers has always been known as a goofball. Fun loving and full of talent. In fact, Matt Kemp used to openly talk about how annoying it was. But that’s Wil. Goofy and talented.
In 2019, it’s been painful to watch the talented slugger struggle. He hasn’t looked like himself. At least for one night, the old Wil came to play. Or maybe it’s the Wil that was always here.
Myers roped a single on an 0-1 pitch in the 10th to walk off against the Rockies Sunday afternoon. It was a great way to cap a series of competitive pitchers duels.
Myers would go 3-5 on the night.
After the Rockies took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3rd, Luis Urias hit a 2 out single to tie the game in the 4th. There would be no more scoring until the 10th.
Eric Lauer had himself a heck of a game. He threw 6 innings of 1 run ball. The combo of Bednar, Strahm, Yates and Stammen got it done out of the Pen’. They combined to strike out 7 Rockies in 4 innings.
The Padres welcome Chicago for a 4 game set Monday night. Cal Quantrill looks to bounce back after getting shelled his last time out. 1st pitch is 7:05 PM.
