Ronald Bolaños will start, make major league debut vs D-backs

4.38 career ERA in minors

Ronald Bolaños will make his major league debut for the Padres tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bolaños pitched well in A ball this year before being called up to AA.

He owns a 13-7 record and a 3.66 ERA this season.

Of course, the 23 year old has had a much tougher time in AA. After dominating early in the year, he owns an 8-5 record and a 4.23 ERA. In 76.2 IP he’s struck out 88 and walked 30.

He appears to be your standard Padre prospect in terms of his high strikeout, high WHIP tendencies. He’s shown to be erratic at times, but is downright dominant when he’s on. It’ll be interesting to see what he does against big league pitching.

Clearly the team feels like he can make an impact while developing in the show. Should be fun to watch.

Game time is 6:40 PM.
