Prepare your winter is coming memes. Be prepared yourselves, as well. The season may be nearing the end, but Taylor Trammell is showing us why he was such a highly regarded prospect.

His trade was met with some skepticism, and maybe rightfully so based on his numbers. Then he struggled with the Padres.

I’ve been a Trammell defender from day one. I believe this was a fantastic acquisition by the organization. Baseball players struggle. As we gear up for the off-season, Trammell is allowing us to dream of what could become.

One of the things I’ve been saying is not to read too much into his numbers this year and to wait for the Padres to make adjustments. With that being said, let’s look into his recent numbers.

Over his last 10 games dating back to August 24th, Trammell is hitting .361 with a pair of homers, 5 RBIs, and has reached base in nine of those games. For what it’s worth, the one game he didn’t reach base he only had one at bat.

So cue the parade and say we won the trade!

Kidding. There is still a ways to go here, and I still say don’t read into the stat line right now, even if it does support what I believe. Trammell is a very good player, and he looks a lot better. That reaches beyond the hot streak. Watch him if you can, things look better.

Not long after the trade I wrote about what looked to be some changes in Trammell’s stance and swing, which you can read here.

Thanks to Austin Hartsfield, we can see a nice view of Trammell’s swing recently.

Here is where I don’t want to mince words. This is not a complete project, but there are clear signs of improvement. His swing looks more smooth and he looks more comfortable with some of the changes happening. But, guys, Taylor Trammell has some really fantastic tools.

The fact that he is putting some of these on display for the Padre faithful right before the end of the year just makes me more excited for what he might look like in 2020. This is not his first hot streak and it will not be his last. Each one will be under a microscope, at least for the next year. It’s good to see him ending the year on a high note, and hopefully he will carry this momentum into next season.
