The Padres looked to take 3 out of 4 against the Giants Sunday afternoon. Eric Lauer would take the mound for the Padres while veteran Jeff Samardjiza would toe the rubber for the Giants.
Greg Garcia hit a leadoff homer to start the game, while Eric Hosmer would double later in the inning to make it 2-0 Padres.
In the Bottom half, Kevin Pillar would go deep for a 2 run shot of his own to tie it at 2 a piece.
Ty France hit a solo shot to take the lead back in the 3rd. Fast forward to the 6th and Wil Myers had just hit an RBI double. France would go deep again, this time a 3 run shot to extend the lead to 7-2. He had 4 RBI on the day.
Evan Longoria would cut the lead back to 7-4 the next inning after taking Lauer deep. It would be the last time the Giants would score.
Lauer would go 6 innings giving up 4 ER. He also struck out 9.
Luis Perdomo and Andres Munoz would both throw a shutout inning in relief. Munoz struck out the side in what’s becoming a typical affair for him.
David Bednar would close the game out in 1-2-3 fashion. It was the 1st outing of his career.
The Padres travel to Arizona tomorrow to play some day baseball. Game time is 1:05 PM.
